Reservoir trout
Buzzers' technique
Buzzers fill up most French flyfishing reservoirs. Therefore, being able to imitate them and knowing how to use the buzzers technique is a real advantag!
With about 400 species, buzzers are one of the most important dipter families. In all reservoirs, they are the basis of trouts’ food ; so why not tempting trouts with imitations of buzzers in their pupal stage? Below is a leader to fish buzzers with a floating line: Maxima nylon 45/100 à 25/100. Fluocarbon for the final tippet and droppers (droppers are about 25cm long each).

Below is a set of small and simple A.B.FLY buzzers’ imitations which will really make the difference, especially when fish are « educated » to flies and lures.
As for rods, we would recommend a 6 wt. rod (10’ feet), with a soft tip.
A stomacal pump may be very useful to know buzzers’ size and color.
